Greetings to those interested souls inquiring about the current status of California Assembly Bill 1634.
I spoke with Peter Detwiler today. He is the Staff Director for the Senate Local Government Committee. I told him how lovely it would be if “everyone” could enjoy their holidays and take a break from the bill. He informed me that the bill has not been amended to date. The author (Lloyd Levine) has not proposed any amendments. Therefore, he recommends we all have a Happy Holiday!
However, we did continue addressing the future of the bill. If Levine amends it, he would then meet with Senator Gloria Negrete-McLeod to discuss a hearing.
PLEASE NOTE: Per Mr. Detwiler, “The Senate Local Government Committee does have a hearing tentatively scheduled for January 16th for SENATE bills that need to meet end of January deadlines. Since there are no SENATE bills to be heard, it is unlikely the Senate Local Government Committee will meet on the 16th. And, it is very unlikely that we would hear any ASSEMBLY bills.”
The Senate Local Government Committee meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of every month for ANY (Senate or Assembly) matters. February dates are 6th and 20th. March 5 only (not March 19 as they are in spring recess). April 2nd and 16th.
Thanks, Brat, for your constant and concise efforts.
